The Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is inspired by the custom model from the new 007 Bond film ‘No Time to Die.’
The long-awaited theatrical release of the 25th James Bond film, ‘No Time to Die,’ is now less than a month away, and the promotional campaign for the new espionage picture is ramping up.
Aston Martin has produced a life-size diecast duplicate of the original 1965 Corgi DB5, replete with working gadgets, to commemorate the DB5’s appearance in the film.
Land Rover is now celebrating the Defender’s appearance in ‘No Time to Die’ with a new limited-edition model based on the modified off-roaders created for the film.
The special-edition SUV, dubbed the Defender V8 Bond Edition, has a blacked-out exterior and 22-inch gloss black wheels, giving it a suitably sinister look that will make you feel like a Bond villain behind the wheel.
A special ‘Defender 007’ rear logo, ‘007’ puddle lamp, lighted ‘007’ treadplates, and a unique animation on the 11.4-inch touchscreen showcasing Land Rover’s 38-year connection with the James Bond series are among the other bespoke elements.
In addition to the Defender, ‘No Time to Die’ features two Range Rover Sport SVRs (one of which is destroyed in a dramatic rollover stunt), a Range Rover Classic, and a Land Rover Series III.
The Bond Edition is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged engine with 518 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque, which is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission based on the new Defender V8.
The Defender V8 Bond Edition accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 149 mph. Land Rover Brand Director Finbar McFall remarked, “The 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition is a special take on the most powerful production Defender ever manufactured, inspired by cars on-screen in No Time to Die.”
“It’s a unique celebration of Land Rover’s 38-year history with James Bond,” he added, “and it signifies a meeting of two great British companies.”
The number of units produced will be restricted to 300. Because of its rarity, the limited-edition SUV isn’t cheap.
The Defender V8 Bond Edition starts at £105,395 ($145,287) for the 90 and £108,040 ($148,933) for the 110 in the United Kingdom.
If you can’t buy it, you’ll be able to see the modified Defender in action following after Bond in a Toyota Land Cruiser in the next film ‘No Time to Die.’
