Concept EQS | Mercedes-Maybach unveils Its First Electric SUV

Concept EQS is a luxury SUV with a lot of bells and whistles.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled a third Concept EQS this week at the Munich car show, but this time it’s an SUV.

The Mercedes-Maybach Concept EQS joins the Mercedes-Maybach EQS sedan and the forthcoming AMG EQS as the EV arm’s halos. The “near-production” one-off sports the same two-tone paint finish as a Maybach, but with a slicker form.

Mercedes recognizes that as its primary markets’ clients become younger, it must adapt its concept of luxury.

“Many of our Mercedes-Maybach customers are extremely digitally connected and have high expectations for our digital solutions.

They also want the brand of their choice to promote sustainable values and assume environmental responsibility “Britta Seeger, a member of the Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG boards of directors, said:

“The Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS satisfies all of these requirements and epitomizes refined elegance in a more progressive manner: the all-electric powertrain not only provides consistently sustainable mobility but also a new level of peace and relaxation for passengers,” Seeger added.

The company’s revolutionary MBUX Hyperscreen, which stretches virtually from A-pillar to A-pillar, is featured in the new Concept EQS. It’s actually three screens sandwiched between two pieces of curved glass. According to Mercedes, entertainment functions are “only available while the automobile is being driven in conformity with country-specific regulatory laws.”

In addition to the different metal trim pieces, there are high-gloss chrome air vents throughout the inside. The steering wheel has a flat bottom and top, luckily not a Tesla yoke, and ambient lighting, similar to the S-Class, may vary the mood of the vehicle.

The EQS 580 produces 516 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG EQS produces 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, both with a motor on each axle. We believe its productivity will fall somewhere in the middle. Soon, we’ll learn the exact specifications, price, and release date. A production version will most likely be released late next year.
